Samsung SDS' cutting edge software engineering center, known as CASE (Center for Advanced Software Engineering) acquired "Level 5", which is the highest level of the Capability Maturity Model (CMM). CMM is an international evaluation standard for software quality control, from the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) of Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
CMM is an evaluation model that Carnegie-Mellon University's SEI developed under the commission of the U.S. Department Of Defense in 1991.
The goal of this project is to select leading software companies (using objective selection criteria) that are suitable for Department Of Defense projects. The model evaluates software development, capability measurement, and software process evaluation standards in the areas of provisioning, information and systems. The evaluation separates software companies in to five levels, (Level 1 to Level 5) with Level 5 being the highest level.

Only 4.8% of all of the projects and organizations that have been evaluated have acquired CMM Level 5.
Mr. June Sung Park, CKO of Samsung SDS, said that "the fact that we have acquired CMM Level 5 means that Samsung SDS' efforts to enhance its development and management technology have been in line with international standards. This achievement symbolizes SDS' commitment to quality, and the richness of its software development practices, resulting in superior value proposition to our clients. We expect that this will be an occasion for Samsung SDS through which the company can obtain credibility in its capacity to provide top quality IT services in the global market."
