SAMSUNG LAUNCHES SAMSUNG CONTACT VERSION 8.0

Samsung Contact 8.0 Unified Communications Provides the Most Reliable, Scalable
and Low-Cost Enterprise-Class Messaging Solution in the Industry

COMDEX Las Vegas, NV, November 19, 2002 - Samsung SDS, the leading systems integration, systems management company in Korea, today announced the release of Samsung Contact 8.0, a new unified communications platform that builds upon the successful Samsung Contact 7.1 messaging software. The new 8.0 unified communications platform brings users the added ability to tightly integrate business email, collaboration and voicemail functions into a single, coherent, architecture. Samsung Contact 8.0 will be demonstrated to the industry for the first time today during the Comdex Fall convention, in the Samsung SDS Booth 2708.

As promised and on-time, the release of Samsung Contact 8.0 is a strategic step along the Samsung product roadmap announced last year after its win of the licensing rights to Hewlett-Packard's highly successful OpenMail product.

Samsung Contact has migrated over 100 new customers since the product began shipping in late-March 2002 and has continued its momentum with Gartner Group's inclusion of Samsung as a messaging "visionary" in its October 2002 Magic Quadrant for enterprise messaging. The 8.0 release delivers on Samsung's vision to offer the industry's most reliable, scalable and low-cost productivity suite that runs on Linux, HP-UX, IBM AIX, Solaris and Microsoft platforms, including Windows and the latest versions of Outlook XP.

"Samsung Contact 8.0 represents the future of unified communications with an extensive business messaging and collaboration functionality that provides users with a seamless and effective experience," said Stuart Barry, General Manager, Samsung Contact. "We have delivered on our promise to develop a product by the end of this year that sets an industry standard for the best unified communications solution available."

Samsung Contact is based on Hewlett-Packard's popular OpenMail technology, which has been deployed as the message server for an estimated 15 million mailboxes worldwide. Samsung Contact's scalable architecture supports customer sites of any size and is developed and supported by a team of dedicated specialists, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

About Samsung Contact
Samsung Contact is an email server product, offering the lowest total cost of ownership, extreme scalability and solid reliability to email desktop clients. Amongst the clients supported is Microsoft Outlook, including the "collaboration" features (such as shared calendars, delegation and offline folders) which are otherwise only accessible when using a Microsoft server. Customers can easily migrate to Samsung Contact from leading email products such as Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Domino and HP OpenMail. The product has been developed following Samsung's win of perpetual licensing rights over Hewlett-Packard's highly successful OpenMail technology. Investment and commitment to the roadmap will continue to build on the success of OpenMail, and expectations are that Samsung Contact will become the market leader in the field of seamless unified communications. Future development will also encompass technologies such as J2EE and XML. For more information, please visit their website at www.samsungcontact.com
